Russia Unleashes Massive Drone Attack on Ukraine, Killing Over 7 People and Injuring Dozens
A devastating drone attack by Russia on Ukraine has left a trail of destruction and loss of life, with almost 1,000 drones launched within a 24-hour period. The attack, which began overnight and continued into the day, targeted central and western regions of Ukraine, causing widespread damage and casualties. At least seven people have been killed and over 50 injured in the attack, with Lviv being one of the hardest-hit cities.
Lviv, a city in western Ukraine, suffered significant damage, with 17 people wounded when Russian drones hit civilian areas. The city's historic centre, a UNESCO World Heritage site, was also targeted, with the Bernardine Monastery complex, an architectural landmark of national significance, sustaining damage. The monastery, which dates back to the early 17th century, is a significant cultural and historical site in Ukraine.
The attack has raised concerns about Russia's tactics, with Ukraine's Defence Ministry advisor Serhii Flash stating that Russia is constantly changing its tactics for massive strikes, trying to find vulnerabilities and break through Ukraine's air defences.
As the situation continues to unfold, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has condemned the attack, describing it as an "absolute perversion" and an attempt by Russia to target a church in Lviv. The international community is closely monitoring the situation, with many condemning Russia's actions as a clear violation of international law.
Russia's relentless drone attacks on Ukraine demonstrate a disturbing disregard for human life and international norms. The use of Iranian 'Shahed' drones, modernised by Russia, to target a church in Lviv is a heinous act that highlights the depths of Russia's aggression. The international community must condemn these actions and demand accountability from Russia for its actions.
