The Airport Police Command has arrested George Ikpe, a 28-year-old former employee of Vovida Communications Limited, for breaking into the company's premises at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport axis and stealing equipment worth N15,072,000. The arrest took place on 3rd April 2026 following intelligence-led operations by the Airport Police Division. CCTV footage from the IT solutions firm showed Ikpe gaining unauthorized access and removing two custom-made Vovida CPUs valued at N10,357,000 and a high-end printer worth N4,715,000. Investigators recovered the stolen CPUs after Ikpe disclosed their location, but the printer had already been sold before his arrest.
Ikpe admitted that he carried out the theft as an act of revenge after being dismissed from the company. Commissioner of Police Ogunbode Olufunke confirmed the arrest and stated that the suspect would be charged in a competent court once investigations conclude. She emphasized the Airport Police Command's commitment to eliminating criminal activity in the airport zone and urged the public to report suspicious behavior to aid law enforcement. The command reaffirmed its dedication to protecting lives and property within the airport environment.
