Abia State government has addressed last week’s protest by some land owners in the airport city, Nsulu, over the non-payment of compensations. The villagers had during the protest on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, threatened to reclaim part of the 1,025 hectares of lands in Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North LGA, which the Abia State government had acquired from them, if compensations were not paid in full. In a statement on Tuesday, the state government said that payment of compensation to villagers whose lands were outside the airport runway commenced on February 23, 2026.
