Adeleke Chides Osun APC, Says FG Might Ideal Good Governance, Not Poll Rigging
**Osun Governor Chides APC, Says Federal Might Should Be for Good Governance, Not Poll Rigging**
In a stern warning to the Osun chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Governor Ademola Adeleke has cautioned the party against its threats to use federal might to rig the upcoming Osun elections. The governor, while addressing leaders and officials of the Accord party in Osun, said that federal might should be used for good governance, not for disrupting the electoral process.
Adeleke's statement comes on the heels of the APC's threat to deploy federal institutions to disrupt the election, an action he claims is not supported by President Bola Tinubu. The governor noted that President Tinubu is a democrat who uses federal power to deliver on his campaign promises, such as the reconstruction of the Ibadan-Ilesa road and the loan programmes for students.
Adeleke also chided the APC for dragging President Tinubu's name into the mud, saying that the party's campaign slogans have been anti-people and anti-democracy. He urged the APC to stop denigrating the names of Mr. President and the federal government, and instead support their efforts to deliver good governance.
The governor reminded the people of Osun that their votes will determine the winners of the election, and that no force can override the people and God. He called on the people to sustain and heighten their preparedness for the election, and to ignore those threatening them with federal power.
In a similar vein, Hon Lasun Yusuf, the Speaker at the event, charged the leaders to be on electoral war footing, mobilizing people from house to house to ensure a free and fair election. The governor's statement has sparked a heated debate in Osun, with many calling for the APC to be held accountable for its actions.
As Nigerians prepare to head to the polls in August, Adeleke's statement serves as a reminder that the power is in the hands of the people, and that they should not be intimidated by threats of rigging or violence.
