**ADC Prepares for Leadership Renewal, Schedules Congresses Ahead of April 14 National Convention**
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is set to hold a series of congresses across the country, starting from the grassroots level and culminating in a National Convention on April 14, 2026.
According to a recent announcement by the National Organising Secretary, Chinedu Idigo, and the national publicity secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the congresses are aimed at restructuring the party's leadership nationwide. The exercise will begin at the polling unit and ward levels before progressing to local government and state congresses.
The schedule of activities shows that polling unit and ward congresses will take place on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, while local government congresses are scheduled for Thursday, April 9. State congresses will hold on Saturday, April 11, and will be followed by the National Convention on Tuesday, April 14.
The ADC has called on members interested in contesting vacant positions at the ward, local government or state levels to obtain and complete the relevant nomination or expression of interest forms through the party's official platform. The party has also made available forms and additional information on its website for members who wish to participate in the exercise.
In a statement, the party urged all members to conduct themselves in line with its constitution, guidelines, and democratic values. The exercise is seen as an opportunity for members to participate actively in the party's leadership renewal process and shape the party's future.
For Nigerians, this development is a significant step towards deepening democracy and promoting the principles of good governance. The ADC's commitment to a robust and inclusive party leadership renewal process sets a good example for other political parties in the country to follow.
As the nation approaches another general election, the ADC's efforts to strengthen its leadership structures will undoubtedly contribute to a more robust and competitive democratic landscape in Nigeria.
