The Independent National Electoral Commission's decision to derecognise the David Mark-led faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is lawful and in line with a court judgment, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said. APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, stated on Thursday in Abuja that the move was a direct result of the ADC's internal mismanagement and legal violations. He described the faction as reckless and desperate, accusing it of fabricating conspiracy theories against the APC. Morka claimed that David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola hijacked the ADC in breach of its constitutional guidelines, rendering the faction illegitimate.

He dismissed the ADC as a party that was never viable, saying it was built with a self-destructive design now fully exposed. According to Morka, the party's failure to resolve internal disputes disqualifies it from being a credible political alternative. He insisted that a party unable to manage its own affairs cannot credibly claim to govern Nigeria. Morka reaffirmed the APC's commitment to President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda and strengthening democratic institutions.

Felix Morka's dismissal of the ADC as a party "that never was" rings hollow given how much attention his statement gives it. The APC's confidence in its dominance is evident, but the real story is how opposition fragmentation benefits the ruling party without improving governance. If internal chaos disqualifies ADC, the APC's own history of imposed leaders and legal battles over party control should invite equal scrutiny. For Nigerian voters, this is less about one party's collapse and more about the lack of credible alternatives.
