Athletics events at the 2nd Niger Delta Games ended on a high note ahead of today’s closing ceremony at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City. After days of competition, Delta State finished with the highest number of medals in athletics. The state dominated many events on the track and in the field. Relays In the 4x100m mixed relay, Bayelsa won gold, Akwa Ibom took silver and Delta claimed bronze. In the 4x400m mixed relay, Akwa Ibom won gold, Edo finished with silver and Delta took bronze. Sprints In the men’s 100m, Chibueze Osama (Delta) won gold, Gift Bright (Akwa Ibom) took silver and Saturday Godswill (Delta) claimed bronze. Osama also won gold in the men’s 200m.
