2027: ‘Deflate your egos’ – Ikechukwu urges PDP
**PDP, 'Deflate Your Egos' for 2027 Elections, Ikechukwu Warns**
As Nigeria gears up for the 2027 general elections, a renowned professor of Strategic Management and Human Capital Development, Okey Ikechukwu, has urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to put aside their differences and work towards a common goal.
Speaking on a live interview programme on Arise Television recently, Ikechukwu emphasized that the PDP needs to "deflate their egos" if they hope to participate in the next election. He was referring to the internal power struggles plaguing the party, particularly after the Court of Appeal dismissed the Taminu Turaki-led faction.
According to Ikechukwu, the PDP should focus on the bigger picture and not get bogged down in petty squabbles. "They don't have time for political games, but they have enough time if they want to take part in the next elections," he said. "The way forward is simple: bury the hatchet and focus on the real issues at hand."
Ikechukwu suggested that the PDP should consider a three-pronged approach to tackle the challenges ahead. First, they must decide whether they want to participate in the election as a strong opposition party that can potentially displace the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). If the answer is yes, then they must identify strong candidates who can lead effective campaigns. Finally, they must mobilize support through e-registration and other means.
In essence, Ikechukwu is urging the PDP to put aside their individual interests and work together towards a common goal. This advice is particularly relevant in the context of Nigerian politics, where infighting and factionalism often hinder the ability of opposition parties to effectively challenge the ruling party.
By taking Ikechukwu's advice, the PDP can potentially regain its footing and become a more formidable opposition force. However, it remains to be seen whether the party can put aside its differences and work towards a common goal.
