**Maikalangu Wins Again: APC Chairman Re-elected in AMAC**
The just-concluded Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) election has seen the re-election of Christopher Maikalangu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the chairman of the council. Maikalangu, who has been at the helm of affairs in AMAC, secured a total of 40,295 votes out of the 62,861 valid votes cast in the election.
In a keenly contested poll, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) came second with 12,109 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) trailed behind with 3,398 votes. The election, which saw the participation of over 65,000 accredited voters out of the 837,338 registered voters in AMAC, was declared free and fair by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the INEC collation officer, Prof. Andrew Abue, Maikalangu's victory was a reflection of the trust and confidence reposed in him by the people of AMAC. Abue added that the election was a demonstration of the country's democratic process at work.
The election has been described as credible and transparent by party agents present at the collation centre. APC Collation Agent, Gambo Babale, commended INEC for a job well done, while YPP Ward Collation Agent, Abdullahi Ibrahim, also congratulated the winner and expressed satisfaction with the process.
The re-election of Maikalangu is expected to bring more democratic dividends to the people of AMAC. With a large turnout of voters, this election has set the tone for future polls in the FCT and Nigeria as a whole.
As the people of AMAC look forward to the next four years, they will be hoping that Maikalangu will deliver on his campaign promises and provide the necessary leadership for the development of the council. Only time will tell if he will rise to the challenge and bring about meaningful change to the lives of the people of AMAC.
